Alkali decomposition of Poly(ethylene terephthalate) in a quasi‐solidߝsolid kneading reaction

چکیده

The alkaline depolymerization reaction of poly(ethylene terephthalate) (PET) under quasi-solvent-free conditions was investigated. This is a new approach for recycling PET waste to its monomer building blocks: terephthalic acid and ethylene glycol. influence base particle size, temperature, rotational speed the employed laboratory kneader on yield in quasi-solid-solid depolymerized almost quantitatively time 5 min at moderate temperatures, with intense mixing affecting acid. quality monomer, assessed by color index measurements, indicated that temperature primarily influences monomer. By balancing versus index, optimum were proposed.
